Hispi – Language as the key to integration
Hispi, Support for Linguistic Integration, is an open place for people with refugee and migration backgrounds. Since 2015, we have been facilitating access to the German language in Düsseldorf and promoting integration through everyday learning and encounters.
Hispi offers free German and literacy courses at various levels—from first steps in the language to advanced German. The program is supported by dedicated volunteers who, with experience, patience, and personal commitment, enable learning on an equal footing.
The focus is not only on language and knowledge, but also on mutual understanding, trust, and respectful interaction.

In addition to traditional language classes, Hispi sees itself as a place for connection and everyday support. Complementary offerings such as conversation groups, tutoring, workshops, and community activities provide opportunities to apply what has been learned in practice and gain more confidence in using the language.
Hispi offers a safe space where questions can be asked, connections can be made, and new perspectives can be developed.
Since 2018, Hispi has been part of the non-profit SOPHIA::Akademie gGmbH, enabling sustainable further development.

In cooperation with our partner “Arrival Aid” from Munich, we offer hearing preparation and legal support for appeals at Hispi. To schedule an appointment and make initial contact, simply follow this button and fill out the form. Once we have received your registration, we will get in touch.
Our groups – every Monday to Thursday
Hispi groups take place three times a day. From (primary) illiterate learners to advanced participants—everyone can find a learning level that matches their prior knowledge. And the best part: it’s completely free of charge!
